Sparkling Round Gives Diamond The Edge
Belvoir Park’s Harry Diamond carded a second round of 70 to give him the halfway lead on one under par at the Irish Amateur Open being played at Royal Dublin.
He lies one shot clear of a four man chasing pack which includes the world number seven and Lytham Trophy winner Daan Huizing (Netherlands), the Peter McEvoy Trophy winner Gavin Moynihan, Robin Kind (Netherlands) and the impressive American Mike Miller who are all level par.
A round that contained five birdies, including one on the 18th, gave Diamond the equal best round of the day.
Good friends with Rory McIlroy, Diamond will be hoping to do something that McIlroy never did, in winning the Irish Amateur Open title.
A total of 45 players made the cut which fell at 152
