Morrow Wins European Seniors Individual
Adrian Morrow has captured the title of the European Seniors Individual Championship at Achensee Golf Club, Austria from 14-16 June. With a stunning closing round of two-under-par 69, the lowest score in Austria, gave the Portmarnock star the European crown to add to his Irish Seniors Amateur Open title.
Morrow was one stroke behind of Tomas Persson of Sweden going into the final round but overhauled his rival to eventually triumph by one shot, with an aggregate of 212, one-under-par. Bart Nolte from the Netherlands was four shots further back finishing in third place on 217.
Morrow appeared to face an uphill task when he reached the turn in 36 but then stepped up a gear to collect three birdies in seven holes at 10, 14 and 16. Morrow, the only Irishman in the 90-strong field, said: "It really is an unbelievable feeling to strike gold in a European competition."
This is the second time Adrian Morrow has won the European Seniors Individual Championship, he won the event in 2008 at Oceanico Old Course.
