Irish Sports Summit 2012

20 April 2012

Irish Sports Summit 2012

The Summit is being organised by SpóirtFest, a non-profit, volunteer led group, who wish to create positive outlets for the Irish Sporting community, through our sports festival and the Summit. After the success of last years sports festival, we set out to grow this further by establishing this years Irish Sports Summit. Our aim was to gather together just a few interesting speakers, but we soon were overwhelmed by the response from throughout the sporting community. We now believe we have an incredible line up for our inaugural Summit. And in the years to come we hope to rotate our line up to include directly all aspects of Irish sport.

The Summit, to be opened by Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Simon Coveney TD, will focus on the funding and economic issues afflicting all throughout the Irish sporting world, but in particular will identify and discuss paths towards sustainability and growth. It is a must attend event for all who have financial responsibilities in sport or rely on it for their  livelihood, from small local Clubs to big international brands.

It is a real sporting good news story. The goodwill in evidence so far gives great testimony to the fact the sporting community are willing to work together through these difficult times. Any monies raised from the Summit will go towards the operation of SpóirtFest II (festival), taking place from the 24-26th August, carrying on the success of the first festival in 2011, which featured over 15 sports.
