Malahide Community School have won the Irish Schools Match Play Championship at Strandhill Golf Club with a 4 matches to 1 win over De La Salle, Waterford.
Having comprehensively beaten Presentation Athenry in the morning semi-final, the Leinster champions got off to a flying start in the final when Paul McBride defeated Garry Walsh by 5/4 in the second match. 14 year old Conor Purcell (Portmarnock) followed up with a 4/3 win over Ben Murray before Andrew Conlon secured the winning point, beating James Kavanagh by 3/2.
The top match between Irish Boy Internationals Gavin Moynihan (The Island/Malahide Community) and Robin Dawson (Faithlegg/De La Salle) finished all square having been tightly contested throughout while the bottom match was called in.
