Munster Boys Win Interprovincial Title

The munster boys Team, captained by Jim Long ( Monkstown) and manager Peter English ( Limerick) headed to Sligo with a strong squad. Up against Ulster first day,at the halfway stage we had the lead in the Foursomes, however we lost our way and finished 1 in arrears, this was recovered in the Singles with Wins from Gary Hurley, Jack Ryan, Robin Dawson and Kieran Lynch, and a 1/2 by Jack Leacy. The second day we faced Connaught, we again lost the foursomes with Gary & Eoin getting our solitary point, in the singles we had wins from Gary, Kieran, Jack Leacy, and Robin to secure the hlaved match.

The final day was set up for a winner take all against Leinster, who had won against Ulster and Connaught. Foursomes was tight all morning, Munster got the upper hand towards the end, with Gary and Eoin winning, Jack Leacy and Jack Ryan halving as did Kieran and Robin. The singles were led out by Colm O'Sullivan who had a tough battle with Liam Harnett, the match was won 5/4 and that set up the fight back, Gary Hurley was a winner over Conor Glynn, 3/2, Kieran Lynch put up a great battle against in form Jack Hume ( 5 birdies and an eagle) to loose 5/4, Jack Leacy was in control for most of the match against Alan Lowry, eventually getting the win on the 18th, Jack Ryan had a tough battle with Keegan Cummins, took the match to the 17th to be beaten 2/1, Eoin Harris had a tough battle on his hands, was 3 down after 12, did not panic, leveled the match on 16, then played a delicate pitch to secure the 1/2 point needed to give us the win. He finished the match on 18, 1 hole. The comeback kid, Robin Dawson  had a fantasic match with in form Gavin Moynihan, after a good start by Robin , Gavin fought back to had the lead in the back nine. Robin kept his cool and leveled the match on 15, and finally halved with Gavin to leave us with 6.5 points. Jim long gladly collected the Trophy from the President Eugene Fayne, its been a long way since 2003
